- Why do I see Code Compliance trucks in my neighborhood?
Avondale Code Compliance Officers complete audits of neighborhoods as a method to educate property owners and tenants regarding both the City Code and the Zoning Ordinance. This method ensures the preservation, health, and safety of neighborhoods and provides information on city-wide programs for qualifying families.

How do I report a property with violations?
A property violation can be reported on the AviWise mobile app that is available on Google Play and Apple App store. You may also contact the Code Compliance Division at 623-333-2701 or by email at EmailCodeCompliance@avondaleaz.gov - Why did I receive a violation notice?
A person will receive a violation notice if they are in violation of City of Avondale municipal city codes/zoning ordinance. A concern may have been reported in by a citizen or Code Compliance Officer viewed the violation on your property during pro-active audits in your neighborhood.
- What should I do if I have questions about a violation that still exists after submitting a concern?
It is our goal to work with property owners to obtain voluntary compliance and to provide a fair and reasonable time for abatement. However, there may be circumstances when additional time or assistance may be needed. If you have questions regarding the status of a violation, please contact the Code Compliance Officer assigned to your area for additional information. Updates can also be obtained by downloading the AviWise app.
- What happens after I call in a concern?
Once a case has been opened the Code Compliance Officer will view the property within 3 business days. If a violation is present, the Code Compliance Officer will attempt to contact the violator. The Officer may issue or mail a Notice of Violation. The Notice of Violation will have a timeframe to correct the issue. The Code Compliance Officer will re-inspect the property and issue a Final Notice or citation if necessary. If the violator does not come into compliance after the re-inspections, the Code Compliance Officer has the option of issuing a civil or criminal citation.

What should I do if there are problems in my apartment/rental home?
If there are problems in your apartment, notify your property manager and/or the property owner. If the violations have not been corrected in a reasonable time, you can contact the Code Compliance Division or submit your concern through the AviWise mobile app. A Code Compliance Officer will contact you for further information and to schedule a time and date to inspect the property. Pools are not allowed to be drained into the street. You can drain your pool onto your property or into your cleanout which is either in the front or back yard. Click on this link for more information.

Residents are allowed to have 4 yard sales within a 12 month period.

Are food trucks/mobile vendors allowed?
City of Avondale does have rules and requirements, please view the brochure regarding mobile food vendors.

Who should I call for questions about building permits or where I can place a shed/structure on my property or verify if my existing structure requires a building permit?
If you have questions regarding building permits or building setbacks, please call 623-333-4000 or you may speak with a development services representative in our office at City Hall. - Is a permit required to put up a sign or banner in front of my establishment?
Yes, a permit is required in order to put up a sign in the City of Avondale. An application must be submitted for a sign permit as well as a permit fee. Please call 623-333-4000 for more information. Please click on this link for information about prohibited signs. -
Who should I call if someone is parking an oversized or abandon/inoperable vehicle on the street?
Concerns regarding street parking are handled by the Avondale Police Department. A complaint can be made online through the AviWise mobile App or you may contact Avondale Police Department at 623-333-7000. - How do I report graffiti?
Our Graffiti abatement program assist in removing graffiti in a timely manner. Our preferred method of reporting is the AviWise mobile app. It will allow you to include photos and specific locations.
- How do I report shopping carts?
Both the State of Arizona and City of Avondale requires that all shopping carts have the store’s address and contact phone number to have the shopping carts picked up and removed. Shopping carts can also be reported through the AviWise mobile app if they are causing an obstruction in a street or sidewalk.

How do I place a trespass enforcement authority for my vacant property?

Who do I contact if I want to have a neighborhood clean-up event in my community?
Please reach out to the Code Compliance Officer in your area for information. - Can I park my RV/camper on the driveway?
Per the City of Avondale Zoning Ordinance, Section 802.e, RV’s, boats, and trailers cannot be stored on driveway or front yard in a residential zoning district. They may be stored in the side or rear yard of a home with conditions that there is a dust proof surface and screened from street view by solid (opaque) fencing or walls. Please contact your assigned Code Compliance Officer for additional information.

Can I run a business from my home?
Home Occupations are allowed in certain residential Zoning Districts, provided that in addition to all of the use limitations applicable in the Zoning District in which the home occupation is located, no home occupation shall be permitted unless it complies with the following restrictions listed in the City of Avondale Zoning Ordinance, Section 203.G. - My neighbors tree is growing over on my property, is that a violation?
Avondale City Code only addresses trees, bushes, or other landscape plants that grow over public streets and sidewalks causing an obstruction. Landscape overgrowth issues between private properties would be a civil matter the Code Compliance Division does not address.
