Reporting Stray Shopping Carts

Is there a stray shopping cart in your neighborhood?

Report it by contacting the Shopping Cart Hotline at 623-333-2702. When calling, leave a detailed message including the exact location of the cart (including major cross streets) and the name of the store the cart belongs to. Carts are generally retrieved within two days of being reported.

Shopping Cart Ordinance

On July 31, 2020, Avondale’s shopping cart ordinance became effective. The primary provision of the ordinance requires Avondale businesses to install restrictive devices on their shopping carts.

The adopted ordinance can be found by viewing the Shopping Cart Ordinance.

To comply with the Shopping Cart Ordinance, section 15-37.a-b, all retail establishments that provide shopping carts for customer use are required to submit a Shopping Cart Application Form.

Impound Information

Shopping carts are impounded at 390 E Lower Buckeye Road, Avondale, AZ 85323. To reclaim the shopping cart(s), schedule an appointment at 623-333-2701. The hours to schedule an appointment are Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Prior to retrieving the shopping carts, a fee will be collected for impounding the shopping cart(s) as stipulated in Resolution No. 1037-0620.
